Oskar Koller (1925 Erlangen - 2004 Fürth) is one of the great watercolor painters in Germany. 1947 visit to the vocational high school Nuremberg (now the College for Design), lessons in drawing and color theory. Study trips to Italy, Austria and France. Until 1959, Koller studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, the 1985 / 1986 he returned as a visiting professor again. 1957 Koller had a scholarship in Paris. At that time Paris was the center of the current Western art. There it came to the first confrontation with abstract tendencies, and he began to paint his first abstract paintings. In particular, the watercolors made him known beyond his homeland. In this technique, he could play to its great strength, the seemingly effortless use of color, very well. The blobs and splashes it was a very sensible and frugal, always trying not to constrict the imagination of the viewer too much. His favorite subjects were landscapes, flowers, trees and especially the people. Since 1959, Koller was working as a freelance artist, solo exhibitions at home and abroad have established his international reputation. His work was often honored with awards and prizes. Many published books, calendars, and TV reports have made him a wide audience. In 2002 he established a foundation so that "preserved and remains accessible to the public" his life's work. Nearly 3,000 images he has handed over to the Foundation. From January 2005, will provide the Foundation at the Kunstmuseum Erlangen lasting two rooms with Koller plants. Posthumously were major exhibitions at the Kunsthaus Nuremberg 2004, 2005, the Museum of Modern Art in Skopje, Macedonia, in the Art Gallery Fürth and the Isle of Mainau in Lake Constance.
